I acknowledge that I live and work on Treaty 6 territory, a traditional gathering place for diverse Indigenous peoples including the Cree, Saulteaux, Blackfoot, Métis, Dene, and Nakota Sioux. I honour the histories, languages, and cultures of the First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples who have cared for this land since time immemorial and who continue to shape its present and future.I also acknowledge my roots in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq people in what is now known as Nova Scotia. This land was never surrendered or ceded, and I recognize the ongoing presence, sovereignty, and stewardship of Mi’kmaq communities. As an artist, I reflect on my relationship to these lands with gratitude and responsibility. I am committed to ongoing learning, to respecting Indigenous sovereignty, and to considering how my creative practice can contribute to care, reciprocity, and accountability.
